Hello! I’m Kirsten Walker, a Youth Exercise Specialist dedicated to helping children and teens—particularly those on the autism spectrum—thrive through movement, play, and physical activity. With a background in [e.g., kinesiology, child and youth care, or fitness training] and specialized experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, I offer inclusive and adaptive physical activity programs designed to meet the unique needs of each child.
I believe that movement is more than just fitness—it’s a gateway to connection, confidence, and self-regulation. My sessions are built around creating a supportive environment where young people feel safe, successful, and motivated to explore what their bodies can do. Each session is personalized, engaging, and focuses on building skills at a pace that feels comfortable and achievable for every individual.
My Approach
My approach combines evidence-informed physical activity practices with a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming lens. I work closely with families, therapists, and support teams to ensure consistency and alignment with broader developmental or behavioural goals. I use a play-based, strengths-focused style that encourages participation while supporting emotional regulation, social interaction, and executive functioning.
Depending on the child’s goals, sessions may include:
Motor skill development (gross and fine)
Balance, coordination, and core strength
Sensory integration and movement-based regulation
Turn-taking, teamwork, and cooperative games
Building stamina, routine, and motivation through structured activities
Gentle transitions to build confidence in new environments or tasks
Who I Work With
I specialize in working with neurodivergent youth, including those with:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ADHD
Sensory Processing Disorders
Developmental Delays
Anxiety or selective mutism
Emotional and behavioural challenges
Whether your child is full of energy and needs help with structure, or is hesitant and needs a confidence boost to engage in physical activity, I meet them where they’re at—with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Why I Do This Work
Supporting young people in feeling capable, strong, and confident in their bodies is what drives me. I’ve seen firsthand how movement can regulate emotions, reduce anxiety, increase focus, and open the door to new friendships and independence. Physical activity is a powerful tool—and when delivered with care, it can change how a child sees themselves and the world around them.
A Bit More About Me
Outside of my work, I love hiking, training for triathlons, skiing, or exploring nature]. I’m passionate about inclusive wellness and am constantly learning new ways to make physical activity accessible and empowering for all kids.
